First Strategic Site Assessment and Readiness Solution for Wireless LANs

05/18/10 - With 802.11n WiFi deployments taking center stage in corporate networks, VeriWave is introducing WaveDeploy, the industry's first strategic site assessment solution for analyzing network readiness, real performance and the impact of growth and change, with a single pass through a facility. WaveDeploy eclipses traditional site survey tools with a lifecycle solution that equips IT managers, Systems Integrators and installers to tune networks, manage vendors and SLAs, certify new devices and applications, verify compliance, and proactively assess return on investments in mobile data, voice, video and multi-play services.

"Users, vendors and systems integrators agree that the growth of 802.11n and increasing diversity of WiFi clients are adding a level of complexity to network deployments that hasn't existed before," says Eran Karoly, VP Marketing at VeriWave. "WaveDeploy is the first solution to go beyond measuring signal strength and Access Point (AP) rates to analyze Web, email, video and voice quality using the actual clients being deployed in the network. WaveDeploy fundamentally changes the way IT departments and systems integrators view and manage wireless networks, saving time, encouraging rapid adoption, and eliminating costly post-deployment surprises."

WaveDeploy leverages VeriWave's renowned real-client generation technology, the de facto industry standard used by leading manufacturers in developing WLAN infrastructure equipment and WiFi-enabled user devices. Unlike traditional "top-down" site survey tools that map Access Point (AP) signal power and basic Ping measurements to try and deduce network quality, WaveDeploy delivers true end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) measurements. Analysis of performance and interoperability is based on the nature and behavior of client devices and applications running on these devices and their interaction with Access Points and wired and wireless networks.

"Cisco is working diligently with our end customers in IT departments and Systems Integration partners to make WLANs an integral part of mission-critical networks in virtually every industry," says Jake Woodhams, Director of Technical Marketing at Cisco. "We've evaluated WaveDeploy and determined that it offers a complete life-cycle solution for site assessment, troubleshooting, planning, and performance validation. We feel that our customers and partners will benefit from using this solution for site readiness assessment, to maintain end-user satisfaction and for new network build-out."

Growth of 802.11n Mandates Lifecycle Site Assessment

"WaveDeploy is an entirely new class of wireless-LAN assurance tool, and the first to address Layer-7 performance management," said Craig J. Mathias, a Principal with the wireless and mobile advisory firm Farpoint Group. "Enterprise IT staff can now make short work of detecting and remediating performance issues, a vital capability as the wireless LAN progresses to a new role as the primary or default access vehicle in mission-critical settings across the globe."

The first true "site assessment" solution, WaveDeploy lets IT departments measure and analyze results in 4 critical areas: site assessment, vendor assessment, the "readiness" of the network for WiFi and/or upgrades, and ROI assessment. For the first time, end-users and IT managers can:

  • Verify and certify vendor offerings & precisely define performance goals
  • Accelerate new deployments by validating actual traffic on the network while observing the interaction between diverse WLAN clients, all in a single efficient sweep of a site
  • Assess the impact of adding new services, applications and third-party devices
  • Clearly communicate issues & QoE results through visual HeatWave representations describing end-users actual experience of voice, video and data
  • Minimize finger-pointing by clearly isolating trouble areas and assisting in resolution
  • Pinpoint existing and potential performance problems isolating network vs. client issues

Complementing benefits to enterprise users, System Integrators can now:

  • Create new revenue opportunities by extending the SI value proposition beyond deployment with problem resolution, "what-if" scenarios, validation and certification services
  • Speed service deployment with accelerated site assessments,
  • Isolate performance issues to the network or to clients, specific devices and applications
  • Minimize post-installation surprises and speed problem resolution

WaveDeploy is available now from VeriWave and through authorized partners with pricing beginning at $4,995.
