Fortress Technologies Launches Vehicle-Based Mesh Point, Mobile Ad Hoc Broadband Wireless Network Solutions

8/19/09 - Fortress Technologies announced two new solutions to its product portfolio that enable secure, net-centric wireless communications via land, air, and sea. The Fortress ES820 Vehicle Mesh Point and Fortress FastPath Mesh allow vehicles to dynamically create ad hoc mesh networks on-the-move, and seamlessly leave and rejoin those networks during tactical missions.

"Vehicles within a convoy often have difficulty communicating with each other in areas with little or no established infrastructure," said Janet Kumpu, President, Fortress. "Fortress' ES820 Vehicle Mesh Point and FastPath Mesh solve this challenge. Providing robust vehicle communications with Fortress' ES820 -- combined with FastPath Mesh to create and enhance the mobile mesh network -- the Department of Defense can bring reliable secure wireless communications to its vehicle units."

With industry-leading radio range, the Fortress ES820 Vehicle Mesh Point is a self-forming, self-healing wireless network device delivered in a small and rugged form factor -- its size, weight, and power are specifically tailored for vehicle use. Fortress' FastPath Mesh allows distributed assets -- such as convoys, command posts, UAVs, and soldiers -- to connect to an organic, ad hoc network that enables end points to join and exit the network seamlessly.

Fortress Technologies develops secure wireless networking products for government markets. With a solid history of delivering reliable, policy-compliant solutions that are rugged, proven, and easily deployed, Fortress has established itself as the clear leader in secure wireless networking. Across the public sector, both military and civilian customers rely on Fortress to securely deliver mission related information that supports critical decision making, situational awareness, and force protection. Currently deployed in some of the world's most demanding environments, Fortress products support vital operations including deployable communications, outdoor network extensions, and vehicle based networks.
