TeleCommunication Systems Receives $14.9 Million World-Wide Broadband Wireless Satellite Systems Order From U.S. Army

4/14/09- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS) announced that it has received a $14.9 million contract order from the U.S. Army to provide Transportable Ground Receive Suites and related spare parts to support the Global Broadcast Service (GBS).

This award was made under the Army's $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle in support of the Program Manager for the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (PM WIN-T). Shipments are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2009 and continue through the third quarter of 2010.

GBS is a high-speed, one-way satellite data communications broadcast capability that transmits information directly to in-theater warfighters. In support of GBS, the Transportable Ground Receive Suites (consisting of a Broadcast Manager, a Next Generation Receive Terminal and cryptographic equipment) substantially enhance the situational awareness capabilities of the U.S. Army by extending the real-time tactical content available to its mobile force. TCS has a proven track record over the past decade of providing this type of highly specialized solution to the Department of Defense, Special Operations and Intelligence Communities, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State.

"We continue to meet the most challenging demands of our military by delivering critical communications equipment in a timely fashion," said Michael Bristol, senior vice president of government solutions for TCS. "Our communications suites are supporting our valiant warfighters in key, forward-deployed locations."
