Z-Wave Alliance Showcases Brand-New Broadband Wireless Energy Management, Home Security and Home Control Solutions

1/9/09 - The Z-Wave Alliance welcomes in the New Year with exciting new partnership and product announcements trumpeted at the International Consumer Electronic's Show (CES) 2009, the world's largest consumer technology show. Alliance member companies will showcase for the first time new, affordable energy management, home security and home control solutions in the Alliance booth, #20619.

As consumers search for simple and convenient ways to save money in 2009, the Z-Wave Alliance will continue to provide an array of affordable energy management and home automation products that work together to create a smart and efficient connected home.

Featured in the Alliance booth, are new products and information from 4Home Inc., Homemanageables, Leviton, Schlage, Universal Electronics Inc., Wayne-Dalton, Black & Decker, Skyco Shade, Teckniku, EWIG, Electronic Housekeeper, Hawking Technologies, Goodway Technologies, and BuLogics Inc. Other Z-Wave Alliance members will be demonstrating new products at other locations in the convention center.

Kicking off Alliance news at the show, is the recent acquisition of Zensys, the developer of the Z-Wave standard, by Sigma Designs, a leader in digital media processor SoC's for consumer electronics, providing more opportunities for growth. The acquisition will combine the Zensys RF chip expertise with Sigma Designs System-on-Chip components to provide RF technology in future home control remotes and set top boxes.

"CES 2009 is the perfect venue for the Z-Wave Alliance to announce the acquisition of Zensys by Sigma, which will provide new expertise and strengthened market position, and the line-up of new products from Z-Wave Alliance members," said Raoul Wijgergangs, chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance. "These developments are just some of the many exciting opportunities that the Alliance is planning for 2009 to continue its mission to provide consumers affordable, effortless remote home monitoring, enhanced safety and security, and energy management."

Some additional Z-Wave Alliance member show announcements include:

  • 4Home's launch of "4Home Energy, " a for-fee energy management service which benefits both service providers and consumers by providing energy awareness, monitoring, management and demand response
  • Black & Decker's sneak preview of its remote and wireless residential access control solutions for the Kwikset® and Baldwin® brands
  • BuLogics' demonstration of its complete control system, The Xelas Solution, with comprehensive control and energy monitoring for home and commercial use
  • HomeSeer Technologies launch of its HSTouch interface design system with in-wall, stand-alone, portable, handheld and wireless touchscreen devices on display
  • Homemanageables unveiling of its Energy Management Module which tracks consumers' energy usage and energy savings
  • Leviton's new ThinkEssentials 2.2 with added IP camera support
  • Schlage's announcement of a new mobile and online application and dynamic new partnership that will enhance Z-Wave's remote access capabilities
  • Universal Electronics introduction of its software upgrades that enable interoperability with Z-Wave home control devices
  • Wayne-Dalton's display of its entire suite of home control products that are currently available at major retailers nationwide
  • Z-Wave Interoperability Wall -- Check out Z-Wave's interoperability first-hand at the Z-Wave Interoperability Wall located at the Z-Wave booth (booth #20619). The wall showcases Z-Wave's capabilities among remote home management, energy conservation, access & control and home entertainment control in a replicated home featuring products from Alliance members.
