D-Link Unleashes 450Mbps 802.11n Broadband Wireless Internet Router

1/8/09 - In a giant leap in wireless networking technology, D-Link announced it is preparing to ship its first 802.11n Wi-Fi router with speeds up to 450 megabits per second. Most routers on consumer shelves today operate at 300 Mbps or less. The end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers and business plans to unveil the D-Link Xtreme N 450 Dual Band Router at the Consumer Electronics Show here this week, and begin shipping it to the market in 2Q, 2009.

Similar in functionality to D-Link's powerful DIR-855 Xtreme N™ router, the N 450 will feature Intel Centrino® 2 compatibility, both wide area and local area network (WAN/LAN) gigabit ports, SharePort™** for printer sharing capability, simultaneous dual-band 2.4 and 5 gigahertz performance, three antennas and D-Link Green™ technology, which saves power through Wi-Fi scheduling and innovative, eco-friendly port activity and cable detection techniques.

The unprecedented speed is made possible by the latest chip design, which allows dual-stream technology for increased data throughput. "It is the next evolution in Wi-Fi performance technology," says AJ Wang, chief technology officer for D-Link. "We are proud to be able to deliver the next level of speed and performance that our customers demand for their home and business networks."

Pricing will be announced when the N 450 begins shipping to D-Link's network of retailers, value-added resellers, distributors and other solution providers.
