MTS Allstream Deploys $1.2 Million Broadband Wireless Wide Area Network for Prairie Rose School Division

12/22/08 - MTS Allstream Inc. announced it has deployed a $1.2 million contract for Prairie Rose School Division for the provision and installation of a wireless wide area network ("WAN") to 28 locations within the Division, which covers an area spanning 1,400 square miles in southwest Manitoba.

"MTS Allstream is pleased to supply the Prairie Rose School Division with one of Manitoba's largest wireless wide area networks," said Dean Prevost, President Enterprise Solutions, MTS Allstream. "Staff and students will receive the most comprehensive access to administration and education tools using the most technically advanced systems and applications thanks to the new WAN installation."

The new WAN will provide the capacity to upgrade the Division's distributive learning infrastructure, as well as long-term potential to access a spectrum of Internet protocol-based data services, including internal communication like videoconferencing, voice, e-mail, interactive learning applications, network administration and desktop maintenance, Internet access, library applications and student information systems applications.

Prairie Rose School Division oversees the education of 2,400 students and employs approximately 400 full-time and part-time staff members. Locations in the Division include an adult education centre, an administration office, 10 community schools, and 15 Hutterite Colony schools.
