Seamless Optichron DPD Development Tool Suite Covers 700 MHz to 3.7 GHz Broadband Wireless Transmitters 12/19/08 - Optichron, Inc. announced availability of its suite of three integrated
tools, including a common GUI to ease evaluation, development and migration
to production for developers of radio transmitter cards using Optichron
crest factor reduction (CFR) and digital pre-distortion (DPD) solutions.
The Development Platform contains all of the components necessary for the complete transmit path, with the exception of the customer's selected power amplifier (PA), and covers specific 700 MHz to 3.7 GHz development requirements in five optimized configurations. The key to seamless use of the tool suite is the Optichron GUI, used for rapid evaluation, development, and transition to the customer production vehicle. The Optichron USB Debug Adapter, a small board that connects the GUI to the customer production vehicle via a standard USB interface, provides direct communication to the customer hardware while the GUI provides full control over all operational aspects of the DPD and CFR and programming of the serial Flash PROM that initializes both ICs. Flash images may be directly downloaded to the customer system, and direct access to and control of the DPD and CFR functionality from the host are available through the serial peripheral interface. Further optimization of the customer's production vehicle may proceed with the same GUI. Optichron DPD/CFR solutions provide the industry's most efficient signal linearization for more efficient, cost-effective basestations, remote radio heads (RRH), repeaters and high power amplifiers (HPA) for all wireless protocols including MC-GSM, CDMA, CDMA2000, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, WiBro, WiMAX and Digital Television Broadcast. "In a very dynamic wireless infrastructure environment, ease of use and flexibility are paramount customer development requirements, and we believe that these new tools set the standard for minimizing design and development efforts," said Dane Elliot, director of marketing for Optichron. "With these tools it is not only simpler and quicker to evaluate Optichron's DPD and CFR products, but the design team also has an optimized RF foundation to move seamlessly through system design and transition to the production vehicle."
