11/19/08 - Mitec Telecom (TSX: MTM) has received orders valued at more than $1.6 million for Mobile Wireless Infrastructure components from two of the world's top five major telecom providers. The orders are for coverage solution products which are manufactured at Mitec's Suzhou, China facility. They are at various stages of production and delivery.
Mitec is a leading designer and manufacturer of mobile wireless, fixed wireless, broadcast and satellite components. Coverage solutions, which are integrated into established wireless communication infrastructures, enable more efficient transmission of voice, data and multimedia video. Mitec's coverage solution products include interference mitigation filters (IMFs) and tower mounted amplifiers (TMAs) as well as antenna cable sharing solutions.
"As wireless networks around the world expand, Mitec's coverage solutions have gained in popularity because they fulfill an important requirement," said Dan Piergentili, Mitec CEO. "The fact that these orders were received from two of the leading global wireless telecom providers shows Mitec is well-positioned to benefit from market demand."
During its first quarter of fiscal 2009, Mitec generated $10.4 million revenue in its Telecom segment, which is a year-over-year increase of 250% and represents 70% of the total Telecom revenue reported in fiscal 2008.
