General Dynamics Places New Order for NET's NX1000 for Voice, Video and Data in Army WIN-T Program

9/9/08 - Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: NWK) announced that it has been awarded an additional order by General Dynamics C4 Systems for the Army's Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program, to include NET's NX1000. WIN-T is the Army's primary battlefield communications network produced by General Dynamics. The WIN-T system will use NET's NX1000 multiservice networking platform to interface to the Standardized Tactical Entry Point (STEP) of the Defense Information Systems Network.

The interoperability, scalability, small size, and high bandwidth capacity make the NX1000 ideal for optimizing weight and power usage for tactical environments. It provides reliable, secure, and guaranteed-QOS networking to DISN STEP services and other deployed units from all US military branches, NATO, and coalition partners. With both high-speed serial and IP trunking interfaces, the NX1000 provides the Army with battle-proven communications technology that enables voice, video, and data transport over TDM and/or IP backbones. Also integrated in the system is NET's IP-TRK which provides standards-based TDM-over-IP at rates up to 40 Mbps.

WIN-T provides the Army with mobile broadband communications for tactical operations while enabling real-time network planning and monitoring in an ad-hoc, dynamic network environment so that commanders and select staff can maneuver anywhere on the battlefield while maintaining connectivity to the network. The NX1000 provides the warfighter with small form factor, highly adaptable communications and can be used whether connecting through radio, satellite, or fiber optic connectivity.

"Warfighters and commanders need high-bandwidth, self-forming networks to support highly mobile missions. The NX1000 is part of the equipment suite that provides on-the-move enterprise networking, enabling mobile battle command over large distances. This mobile, tactical, high-speed network is a key part of the Army's modernization program," said Gary L. Lau, President, NET Federal Inc., a subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc.
