Buffalo Technology Enables Easy Wi-Fi Set up With Devicescape Software

9/3/08 - Devicescape Software announced its central role in enabling Buffalo Technology to deliver simple and secure Wi-Fi connections for home and small business environments. Until recently, most users struggled to set up their wireless network and attach new devices.

Now, users can quickly and easily add their laptops to their Buffalo wireless network using solutions jointly developed by Devicescape and Buffalo. By working with Devicescape to make Wi-Fi set-up and access easy, Buffalo reduces its support costs and provides an improved wireless networking experience for consumers.

Buffalo is a leading provider of consumer and small office/home office networking solutions. According to ABI Research, more than half of all broadband users access the internet via a home network and expectations are for continued growth in this sector. While accessing wireless networks has become more common place, setting these up and adding new devices still present challenges for the average users. By integrating Devicescape's software into its Client Manager software, Buffalo is empowering its customers to add new devices quickly and securely with the minimum of fuss.

"The connected lifestyle is about more than devices, it's about how a range of Wi-Fi enabled equipment can be connected so that together they deliver a truly compelling and productive experience," said Mr. Kota Sato, Buffalo Broadband Solutions Business Division. "As wireless technology becomes ever more prevalent around the home, offices and in public hotspots, users are demanding a simple set-up and secure connection between their different Wi-Fi-enabled components. Devicescape Software enables us to fulfill these requirements."

Devicescape offers ready-made solutions enabling seamless and secure Wi-Fi access from every device to every network -- at home, at work, and at hotspots worldwide. As wireless technology is implemented in more devices around the home, it is increasingly important that set-up and access is both simple and secure to limit customer support and improve user experience.

"In consumer electronics there are two Wi-Fi fundamentals -- it's got to connect simply and be secure," said Dave Fraser, CEO of Devicescape. "The combination of Devicescape with its own Client Manager software provides Buffalo with a simple, secure and powerful Wi-Fi solution that is ideal for the consumer electronics market."

Devicescape is dedicated to creating a simple user experience for consumers to set-up and access their content and services on the internet over Wi-Fi. The technology that Buffalo licensed, the Devicescape Agent supplicant, is a Wi-Fi security software package that supports the latest Wi-Fi standards and security technologies. The Devicescape Agent allows Wi-Fi enabled devices to seamlessly and securely connect to any Wi-Fi network.

Devicescape is a leader in Wi-Fi security and access solutions for device manufacturers. The company has worked with original equipment manufacturers since its inception, and has developed a reputation worldwide for high-quality, easy-to-use software that is resource-efficient for the highest volume, lowest cost products. Devicescape's software has received numerous awards from industry and operator groups, has been licensed by more that 80 device manufacturers worldwide, and is shipping in over 100 devices for millions of installed units worldwide.
