Nth Air Launches WiMAX Service in Colorado Using Airspan's WiMAX Solution for 3.65 GHz 8/29/08 - Airspan Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN), announced the launch of the Nth Air wireless broadband solution across Denver for delivery of high-capacity video, voice and data services. The WiMAX network is available for the 5,000 delegates and more than 15,000 members of the media expected to attend the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver next week.
The wireless broadband network, sold to Nth Air via Airspan partner Fujitsu Network Communications, will allow users to have the same network experience as they would at their office and avoid any potential bandwidth bottlenecks from existing wireless networks due to the influx of people. "Reporters or city officials and their staff members may simply not have time to head back to their hotels to file stories or transmit important information to each other," said Craig Niemeyer, chief executive officer and president of Nth Air. "By subscribing to our WiMAX service, they'll receive high-speed wireless Internet access directly from the convention center with the same kind of connectivity they'd get with their own networks at the office." "Nth Air is using our WiMAX solution to deliver high-quality, high-availability services to businesses who are looking for alternatives that are richer in features, more flexible, and quicker to install," said Amit Ancikovsky, Airspan's VP Sales and GM of the Americas. "Our WiMAX solutions are an excellent fit. We're also excited about the continued success we're enjoying with our Fujitsu partners." The fixed point-to-multipoint network will provide broadband wireless Internet data, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video services for businesses and municipalities who can subscribe to the service during the convention and not be locked into a long-term contract. WiMAX-compliant point-to-point connectivity is also available to connect users staying at different hotels in wide area network configurations. Nth Air provides completely integrated, end-to-end wireless broadband solutions from business-class connectivity to transport access, disaster recovery, professional services, and managed services. Up to 1 Gbps symmetrical, dedicated, scalable services are delivered to support subscriber needs. Nth Air is committed to extending the network reach of individuals and businesses that need to be connected any time, any place and anywhere. Airspan is leader in fixed and mobile WiMAX innovation and solutions. The 3.65-GHz solution deployed by Nth Air has been showing tremendous success in the US this year due to its leading feature set and broad suite of available products. Airspan has an alliance with Fujitsu Network Communications to market and support our portfolio of WiMAX solutions, including FCC-certified 3.65 GHz base stations and customer premise equipment. This alliance is an extension of the co-development agreement in place to bring high-powered mobile WiMAX base stations to the global market. Want to learn more about wireless technologies?
