Socket Introduces New Wireless LAN Products for OEM Customers

8/22/08 - Socket Mobile, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT) announced it will offer new 802.11 a/b/g Wireless LAN (WLAN) products designed for corporate and industrial OEM customers to use in their embedded and plug-in applications. Three form factors will be available worldwide including modules, Secure Digital and CompactFlash cards.

The new products have added key features of extended operating temperature range and antenna diversity, and have improved range capability, receiver sensitivity, data rate and power management as compared to the previous 802.11 b/g products. Socket will offer driver support for Windows Mobile 5 and 6, Windows CE 5.0 and 6.0 platforms. Linux will be supported through Socket industry software partners. Socket will also offer security supplicant, connection and configuration management software, and Cisco CCX compatibility.

"The new WLAN 802.11 a/b/g products are designed to work in noisy radio environments and in a range of vertical industry markets," said Chang Xu, Sr. OEM Product Line Manager at Socket Mobile. "These new WLAN products demonstrate Socket's commitment to continue delivering high quality products with demanding specifications. They will enable us not only to supply our existing customers with exciting new capabilities, but to expand our customer base into new markets. We continue to offer stable products with life cycles suitable for corporate deployments, feature rich software, and superior customer service."

Samples for customer evaluation and design-in will be available by the end of Q3 2008. Volume production will start in Q4 2008. Please contact the Socket OEM sales team for more detailed product information and availability.
