EDX Wireless Adds Cambridge Broadband to Its Ecosystem of Strategic Partners 8/8/08 - EDX Wireless, a creator of carrier-class RF planning tools for the design and deployment of broadband wireless networks, has added Cambridge Broadband Networks to its growing Vendor Partner Program. Cambridge Broadband Networks provides telecommunications operators with carrier-class packet microwave point-to-multipoint backhaul equipment. The company's unique approach to backhaul means that its technology provides operators with a highly compelling business case, reducing microwave backhaul equipment and operating costs by up to 50%.
As an EDX Vendor Partner, Cambridge Broadband Networks' VectaStar point-to-multipoint packet microwave backhaul equipment will be integrated into EDX's carrier-class wireless network design tool, EDX SignalPro. For system integrators and telecom operators deploying VectaStar equipment, this integration promotes network design efficiency by making equipment placement quick, accurate, and consistent for network design engineers using the EDX propagation-modeling tool. "Cambridge Broadband Networks is a perfect complement to EDX's growing list of strategic partners," commented Jennifer Duncan, executive director of business development for EDX. "Their innovative and scalable backhaul solutions offer customers significant cost savings. In addition to our ecosystem of leading base station, drive test equipment, training, geographic database, and technical service partners, we are very pleased to integrate with a state-of-the-art backhaul equipment provider." "We are delighted to be collaborating with EDX and integrating VectaStar point-to-multipoint equipment into EDX SignalPro," commented John Porter, CTO, Cambridge Broadband Networks. "The advanced design and propagation modeling characteristics of EDX SignalPro makes it a natural choice for the planning of point-to-multipoint networks. This enhanced functionality will greatly benefit network design engineers tasked with planning VectaStar networks. The ability to select dedicated VectaStar templates within EDX SignalPro will improve the network design process, accelerate backhaul network deployment and generate cost savings." The integrated solution will be available to all EDX SignalPro customers in the coming weeks. EDX has also announced that Cambridge Broadband Networks has selected EDX SignalPro as their in-house network planning tool. Cambridge Broadband Networks is a customer of EDX's longtime United Kingdom distributor, MTI, Mobile Telecom International Ltd.
