WiMAX Meets the Needs of Large Broadband Wireless Telecom Operators to Expand Coverage Areas with Cost Effective Technology

6/18/08 - At the WiMAX Forum Global Congress 2008 in Amsterdam this week Nokia Siemens Networks is demonstrating a fully scalable, end-to-end WiMAX experience. The demonstration highlights how communications service providers can achieve their coverage and capacity objectives quickly and create seamless and personalized end-user experiences.

In addition, “Broadband in your pocket: delivering untethered connectivity with the most cost-effective technologies”, is the title of Tuesday’s keynote speech from Nokia Siemens Networks head of Broadband Wireless Product Management, Markku Hollström.

Both the demonstration and keynote speech highlight Nokia Siemens Networks ability to enable communications service providers to launch high-quality WiMAX broadband cost-effectively and with the shortest possible time-to-market.

“With more than 15 years’ experience, we know how to build and manage large, commercial networks. Our complete WiMAX network solution can meet the needs of every communications service provider, whatever their size and includes fully scalable solutions for greenfield networks,” said Markku Hollström, head of Broadband Wireless Product Management at Nokia Siemens Networks. “The result is broadband without boundaries.”

The WiMAX solution from Nokia Siemens Networks consists of radio access, transport, core network, operation and network management, application servers and applications, all backed by comprehensive customer services and experienced experts. Nokia Siemens Networks provides a full range of services for network deployment, from radio network planning to full hosting of the network to ensure on time network launch that allows communication service providers to rapidly expand their coverage and launch new services.

Quick implementation is critical in today’s highly competitive broadband markets. The choice of a complete, fully-tested solution from Nokia Siemens Networks reduces project and integration complexity allowing a faster launch of the service. Network quality is also higher, providing more reliable end-user services to maximize revenues.

Unlike many pure technology vendors, Nokia Siemens Networks provides a comprehensive set of services, including network management. The company’s Connectivity Management Solution enables network management and automated provisioning across multi-vendor and multi-technology networks.

The Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi WiMAX base station optimises energy use with a range of hardware and software features that reduce individual site power consumption but increase cell size to minimize the total number of base stations needed to achieve required coverage.
