ZTE Captures 34% of Q1 Mobile Broadband Wireless Base Station Contracts 4/11/08 - EJL Wireless Research announces its first quarter 2008 base station contract analysis results. First quarter contracts totaled 47, dropping from 53 in Q4 of 2007. The base station contract analysis reports are issued on a quarterly and annual basis and provide a unique perspective on the global cellular/PCS base station contract awards and demand for mobile base station equipment covering all major OEMs including Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, LG Nortel Co. Ltd., and ZTE. "ZTE secured 34% of total contract awards during the March 31, 2008 ended quarter. Chinese OEMs captured 40% of overall contracts while each major base station vendor secured at least one win during the quarter. Nokia Siemens Networks won the only billion dollar contract during the quarter," says founder and President, Earl Lum. "Demand also shifted back to Asia Pacific during the quarter while surprisingly, CDMA2000 accounted for 45% of total contract awards as the Chinese OEMs captured 81% of global CDMA contracts," says Lum.
