TenXc Wireless Expands Portfolio to Meet International Demands for GSM, EDGE, and UMTS Network Growth 2/13/07 - TenXc Wireless Inc. announced the availability of its DCS Bi-Sector Array, a new spectral capacity enhancement solution in the 1800 MHz band for GSM, EDGE, and UMTS network growth. The DCS Bi-Sector Array provides additional service capacity using existing cell site infrastructure at a fraction of the cost and time required to install additional sites or source new spectrum reducing network expansion costs and total cost of ownership.
The DCS Bi-Sector Array offers a unique RF enhancement solution addressing spectral capacity and quality challenges found in high-traffic sites and markets with limited spectrum. The Bi-Sector Array can be applied in targeted 'hot spot' sectors and network areas to support current service growth or facilitate spectrum re-farming for EDGE and UMTS overlay deployments. Its "drop and insert" RF design allows for cost effective network growth with minimum network disruption, reducing the deployment of added service capacity to a matter of weeks. "Cost effective high quality next generation mobile wireless network build outs are a challenge," said Ken Rehbehn, Telecom Infrastructure research director at Current Analysis. "Delivering on compelling high speed content-rich data applications that drive operator revenue and reduce churn means dealing with tough spectrum and cell site considerations. TenXc's BiSector Array promises operators important flexibility and capacity benefits to meet the challenge." By applying the principles of higher order sectorisation TenXc's DCS Bi-Sector Array increases overall site capacity. An industry first, the Bi-Sector Array's unique asymmetric patterns and single dual-sector panel addresses key performance, network design and implementation issues that to-date have limited operators from realizing the full benefits when moving to higher order sectorisation sites. In operator network deployments, the Bi-Sector Array has demonstrated a doubling of capacity for both voice and data services. The only industry solution for higher order sectorisation that maps common 65ï¿1/2 sector RF footprints, TenXc's DCS Bi-Sector Array can be used to upgrade existing sites without re-engineering surrounding sites, as well as in greenfield capacity site deployments. It serves as a direct antenna substitution at the cell site and makes use of standard base station features and existing cables while relieving 'tower clutter'. "Operators all around the world are faced with an increasing challenge providing a reliable network to meet the exploding growth in user services they are experiencing today," said Joe Hickey, President and CEO of TenXc Wireless. "In many markets, spectrum remains both a scarce and expensive resource. To profitably support growth and enable the transition to 3GSM services, operators are seeking new solutions which optimize their existing network investments. Our expanding Bi-Sector Array portfolio provides service providers a highly cost effective way to increase network capacity to support service growth and the rollout of new data rich mobile services." The DCS Bi-Sector Array is the latest product in TenXc's cell site enhancement portfolio that provide operators with the needed flexibility to target network congestion and support rollout of new data rich mobile services. Building on the success of the PCS Bi-Sector Array launched for the America's in 2006, the new DCS Bi-Sector Array delivers the benefit of TenXc's technology and innovation to GMS/EDGE 1800 MHz operators around the world that operate in markets where spectrum or new sites are difficult to acquire and justify. TenXc Wireless is highlighting its DCS Bi-Sector Array at the 3GSM World Congress 2007, February 12-15th in Barcelona, Spain.
