LifeStyle Networks Selects Strix Systems Mesh Networking Solution for Citywide Municipal Wi-Fi Network in India 2/1/07 - The Access/One Network Outdoor Wireless Systems (OWS) from Strix Systems has been selected by network services provider LifeStyle Networks Pvt Ltd of Mumbai, India, for a citywide wireless mesh network deployment.
Strix Systems said its OWS offers carrier-class technology, high throughput and capacity, low latency, substantial geographic coverage and the ability to provide fast hand-off times for mobile roaming. It also claimed its products require less wired backhauls than other products and offer simplified deployment. LifeStyle Networks said the Strix network infrastructure will enable it to support a network of the scope and size required to offer the performance to meet the demands of its customers, with fast network deployment. LifeStyle Networks provides broadband Internet, mobile roaming, streaming video conferencing, IP video surveillance services to corporate enterprise, government, industrial and residential customers in Mumbai (formerly Bombay). Almost 1,000 radios are already in operation and over 2,000 extra radios will be operational before mid 2007, with further projects to follow, in what is reportedly India's first citywide wireless mesh network. |
