VeriWave to Leverage VeriWave's New 802.11n WaveBlade Test Platform

1/23/07 - Trapeze Networks announced that it is working closely with VeriWave to leverage VeriWave's new 802.11n WaveBlade test platform and deliver state of the art wireless LAN (WLAN) 802.11n solutions to customers. Working together, the companies will provide end users with a comprehensive WLAN product and testing platform to meet future network demands.

As the industry moves towards next generation networks, customers are increasingly considering migrating to the proposed IEEE 802.11n standard. However, they are challenged with prohibitive costs including expensive WLAN infrastructure forklift upgrades. Trapeze Smart Mobile is 802.11n ready out of the box, enabling customers to support a 10-fold increase in network load without upgrading their wireless switching infrastructure. Existing Trapeze customers can be 802.11n ready with a simple software upgrade.

"The 802.11n standard will bring extraordinary speed and performance to networks," said Ahmet Tuncay, vice president of business development at Trapeze Networks. "We are excited to work with VeriWave to ensure customers have the appropriate testing tools and WLAN products to keep them ahead of the curve and ready when this standard is officially formalized. We have used VeriWave extensively in our Smart Mobile Voice over WLAN development, as it is the only equipment that allows us to conduct the rigorous testing needed to deploy such networks. We plan to do the same in developing our 802.11n solution."

To arm customers with innovative testing tools, VeriWave is introducing the world's first traffic generator / analyzer to test network equipment operating according to the proposed IEEE 802.11n standard to help enhance customer's enterprise Wi-Fi deployments. It incorporates the testing of the new standard into a system that is capable of testing an entire enterprise WLAN installation including the wired LAN segments, as well as existing 802.11 a/b/g components.

Smart Mobile is available now and the 802.11n WaveBlade will ship in the second quarter of 2007.
