ERF Wireless Files Two Patent Applications on Wireless Security Technology

12/6/06 - ERF Wireless (OTC Bulletin Board: ERFW) announced that it has completed the filing of two additional new patents that further protect the basis of its leading-edge position in the secure wireless broadband bank networking industry.

"The highly innovative and specialized nature of the security aspects of the banking industry presents a very high barrier-to-entry for anyone trying to pursue the secure wireless banking network market," said Dr. H. Dean Cubley, CEO of ERF Wireless. "The intellectual property of our CryptoVue system, developed over many years of research and development, has been an essential component in ERF Wireless' ability to satisfy the explosive demand for bank security for critical wireless broadband data transfer between a bank's operations center and its branches."

Dr. Cubley went on to note that even though wireless infrastructure is the most obvious and cost-effective way to provide data transfer capabilities to the regional banking industry, historically, it has been met by objections from federal regulators because of security concerns. "We've spent three years navigating the difficult and complicated issues raised by agency requirements. Our CryptoVue system and process has fully passed the scrutiny of the federal regulators and is now operational in five bank networks in three states."

John Arley Burns, ERF Wireless CTO, commented, "Our current patent applications are the latest in an entire family of patent applications that ERF Wireless is preparing and will be filing in order to protect the large investment we've made in this technology. We believe we have both a unique product and a unique application, and this technology will be very valuable in the future for our own use as well as possible licensing to other companies. The effort to properly protect this technology is a major part of my overall focus both now as well as in the future."
