Ultrawideband Pioneer Appoints New Personnel for Commercialization of Ripcord Certified Wireless USB 12/2/05 - Staccato Communications announced that it has appointed Dr. Leopold Bömer as Vice President of Solution Delivery and Robert Brand as Director of Software Development. The addition of these industry veterans further strengthens Staccato's management team as the company begins commercialization of its Ripcord™ Certified Wireless USB solutions. "Integrating high-performance wireless technologies like UWB into consumer devices under tight schedules presents unique challenges for our customers. Staccato is committed to delivering best-in-class, single-chip, all-CMOS solutions for Certified Wireless USB applications. Our commitment to support our customers extends from initial design through commercial product deployment and beyond," said Rick Kornfeld, President and CEO of Staccato Communications. "We have launched solutions-oriented initiatives across the company to meet our customers' needs and help them quickly bring their products to market. Leopold Bömer and Bob Brand, who join us from TI and Broadcom, respectively, are excellent additions to our management team and will help us further refine a broad product and customer support platform." Dr. Bömer brings more than 14 years of research and development, program and product management, technical support and marketing experience to Staccato. As Director of Solution Delivery for Texas Instruments, Dr. Bömer established a worldwide technical support organization from the ground up. He managed the company's first CDMA2000 mobile phone reference design program to support major Asian customers. Prior to TI, Dr. Bömer was Director of Marketing at Via Telecom, where he led sales, marketing, program management and applications engineering teams to support U.S. and Asian customers. Previously, he held senior-level product development positions at Siemens and Infineon. Leopold Bömer received his Ph.D, graduating summa cum laude, and a Master's of Science, Electrical Engineering from RWTH in Aachen, Germany. He has published and participated in 30 international technical publications and conferences. Bob Brand joined Staccato with more than 16 years of wireless software development and management experience. Most recently he was responsible for managing Broadcom's embedded Bluetooth solutions for mobile phones and embedded Bluetooth protocol and profile software development. Prior to Broadcom, Mr. Brand was Director of Engineering for WIDCOMM, an innovator and leading provider of Bluetooth software technology and solutions for PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, automobiles and other consumer devices. Previously, he held senior engineering positions at Motorola, Denso International America and NextWave Telecom. Bob Brand earned a Master's of Science, Computer Science from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science, Engineering degree from Case Western Reserve University. Staccato Communications, based in San Diego, Calif., is an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology pioneer with applications expertise in Certified Wireless USB, Bluetooth and Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity. |
