| 6/13/05 - Fortress Technologies announced that its award-winning security system received an Interoperability Assessment and a Standards Conformance certification for 802.11 networks by the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). This certification is a critical milestone in the deployment of wireless devices within U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) networks. This accomplishment continues to affirm Fortress' commitment to meet the interoperability requirements of the DoD.
JITC is the authority that certifies DoD technology and ensures national security systems meet interoperability requirements for joint military operations. This certification allows all DoD organizations to take advantage of the Fortress security solution for 802.11 wireless and wired networks.
Fortress' robust security solutions have been chosen to protect some of the largest fixed-based and tactical wireless deployments, including more than 7,500 wireless LANs accessed by 80,000 military personnel serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. The JITC certification enables the government to take full advantage of Fortress' security system on multiple platforms, in combined wireless and wired networks and between military branches. The Fortress security solution is flexible and highly compatible with a variety of devices, wireless protocols and wired network systems providing complete security support regardless of the method of network access.
"We understand that when securely deployed, wireless communications improves flexibility and efficiency of operations whether it is fixed-based network infrastructure or tactical battlefield deployments," said Janet Kumpu, COO of Fortress Technologies. "This JITC Interoperability Assessment and Standards Conformance Certification validates Fortress' continued commitment to meet the strictest security needs for our armed forces. Fortress' certified products allow defense and government entities to take advantage of real-time sharing of critical information through secure channels, even across multiple systems and military departments."
Fortress' integrated network security system combines granular role-based policy management, identity-based access control, roaming and provisioning capabilities and advanced privacy and authentication methods with a centralized management architecture for true enterprise scalability. Fortress provides FIPS 140-2 end-to-end protection and a unique Three-Factor Authentication approach, which authenticates access at the network, device and user levels to extend identity management to the edge of the network to uphold confidentiality and access control.
In addition to this JITC certification, Fortress is the only layer 2 wireless encryption solution to receive DITSCAP accreditation under current U.S. Army policy and regulations. Providing further assurance, Fortress is also compliant with several other government standards and testing including FIPS 140-2, participation in Common Criteria; Department of Homeland Security- TISCOM; U.S. Army -- TIC validated; U.S. Navy -- SPAWAR; and U.S. Airforce -- AFCA approved.
