Redline and Fortress to Deliver First Comprehensive Broadband Solution that Addresses the Security Needs of Enterprise and Military Applications

12/8/04 - Redline Communications announced that it will partner with Fortress Technologies to deliver the first comprehensive broadband solution to address highly secure long range wireless connectivity. The combined offering will enable customers to implement wireless infrastructure technology that has the flexibility to scale with their needs while offering the speed and security users demand. The solution has passed through interoperability testing and is generally available today.

Government and military applications demand the highest level of security. Security enhanced 802.16 based technology is an effective alternative in delivering highly sensitive traffic where fiber is either not an option or not practical.

Deployments of that nature include expansive enterprise campuses, municipal area networks and military installations. In fact, the solution is currently being evaluated at various levels of the military for base and tactical deployment for both fixed and on the move communications.

"The addition of Redline's high-speed technology reinforces Fortress' commitment to equipping customers with the speed and security they require for their wireless deployments," said John Dow, vice president of business development for Fortress. "The joint offering will allow our users to establish highly secure links over long distances-a need that has not been addressed to date"

In addition to the business value presented by enhanced speed and security, the joint broadband solution is also the first wireless WAN solution to meet both the stringent- Federal Information Processing Standards 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) and US Army's Wireless BBP(Best Business Practice) policies for military grade encryption and authentication.

"This collaboration opens the door to expanded broadband wireless markets for both Redline and Fortress," said Keith Doucet, VP of marketing and product management at Redline Communications. "The interoperability will enable us to work in partnership to approach military level vertical as well as other enterprise and government organizations with an 'off the shelf' FIPS-certified solution that is guaranteed to meet required encryption and authentication standards. The combination of Redline qualities - such as non-line-of-sight capabilities, 802.16 standard equipment, and spectral efficiency - with Fortress' security leadership in the wireless LAN arena, makes us the first to deliver true end to end secure wireless WAN solutions."

Dow added, "We're looking to strengthen our penetration in other markets as we extend our security offerings into new applications. The proven interoperability of our products provides a level of confidence in our solutions."
