WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2001 - The broadband wireless industry's premier annual technical conference will be opened on Jan. 14 in San Jose, CA by a top AT&T Fixed Wireless technologist, the Wireless Communications Association (WCA) announced today.
Dr. John Saw, Vice President and Chief Engineer of AT&T Fixed Wireless Services, is among the leaders of the industry who will summarize progress in Next Generation broadband deployments for top technologists attending from around the world.
Dr. Saw has more than 15 years experience in the wireless field, having worked on a number of cellular, microwave and fixed wireless radio developments. He is presently responsible for product development, systems engineering, and systems verification at AT&T Fixed Wireless, a leader in bringing broadband wireless services to the public.
WCA's annual event gathers the world's elite technologists in broadband wireless development and deployment, including frequency bands from below 2 GHz to beyond 100 GHz and into the Free Space Optical and other ultra-high capacity ranges. Services include residential, business and educational applications that benefit from high speed and high capacity.
The technology
permits prompt, cost-effective deployments for broadband Internet access. This
year's Symposium had record attendance as industry leaders charted the technical
dimensions of major rollouts for the broadband wireless industry, drawing 1,150
registrants -- a nearly 500% increase from the previous year's record of 235.
