WaveRider signs distribution agreement for 
the U.K. and Western Europe following ETSI 
approval of its NCL wireless product

Essex-based Nighthawk Electronics to distribute WaveRider’s NCL1170 11 Mbps bridge/router

    TORONTO, November 27, 2001 – WaveRider Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: WAVC), a leading global provider of fixed wireless Internet access products, today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Nighthawk Electronics of Essex, England. Nighthawk will distribute WaveRider’s NCL1170 wireless bridge/router throughout the United Kingdom and parts of Western Europe.

    The distribution agreement with Nighthawk Electronics follows the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) CE Conformance Verification of WaveRider’s NCL1170. The ETSI approval indicates the NCL1170 meets the technical and equipment compliance standards for the fifteen member states of the European Union as well as Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.

    Under the agreement, Nighthawk will launch a marketing program that will include NCL1170 sales and technical training programs; seminars for resellers and major customers; and advertising, public relations and direct mail campaigns to effectively promote and sell the NCL1170 throughout its reseller network in the UK. Nighthawk expects to increase distribution of the NCL1170 as it expands into additional markets.

    WaveRider’s NCL1170
    WaveRider’s NCL1170 is the newest 11 Mbps wireless bridge/router developed by WaveRider. The NCL1170 enables broadband connections between two or more corporate computer networks, outlying offices, and the Internet. Operating in the license-exempt 2.4 GHz ISM band, the NCL1170 can be deployed quickly and easily. The NCL1170 also includes WaveRider’s patent-pending Polling MAC, which eliminates packet collisions, enabling the system to manage greater traffic levels.
