Aperto Networks Partners with Jabil Circuit for
Volume Manufacturing of Fixed Broadband
Wireless Access Systems for Global Markets

Collaboration with industry leader ensures high quality and
aggressive cost curves to meet anticipated market requirements

MILPITAS, Calif. & ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Dec. 17, 2001 - Aperto Networks, a leading developer of second generation fixed broadband wireless access (F-BWA) systems, has partnered with Jabil Circuit, Inc. (NYSE:JBL) for turnkey manufacturing of its PacketWave(TM) systems. This partnership enables Aperto to decrease time-to-market and time-to-volume by leveraging Jabil's scalable production capacity. Aperto will also be able to lower total production costs for its sub-11GHz wireless broadband access systems.

A global leader in the electronic manufacturing services industry, Jabil has a worldwide reputation for high quality, reliable and cost-effective manufacturing. Jabil is also a major producer of customer premise equipment for DSL and cable modem broadband access markets. Aperto and Jabil have been working together for six months, supporting delivery to F-BWA carriers across Aperto's targeted markets in North America, Europe, Asia and South America.

"Jabil has a 35-year tradition of providing leading companies with comprehensive solutions in the development, manufacture and fulfillment of the world's most advanced products," said Timothy L. Main, Jabil President and CEO. "Aperto has impressive technology innovations, an experienced management team and a sound business model - all the makings of a market leader."

This partnership begins just as Aperto's trial and deployment orders for commercial PacketWave systems in the 5 GHz frequency band are on the rise. The company is ramping up for 2.5 and 3.5 GHz PacketWave systems to be generally available by the first quarter of 2002. Demand for trial systems and purchase activity is also building in these bands among carriers serving business applications.

"Working with a partner of Jabil's caliber is the first step in ensuring that we meet our time-to-volume goals with the highest quality," says Reza Ahy, Aperto CEO and Chairman. "Aperto is pleased to be one of few burgeoning technology companies that Jabil is partnering with, and its only partner in the broadband wireless systems market. The joint efforts of our teams will be essential in driving down unit costs to further expand and serve mass market demand worldwide."

Aperto Networks will outsource to Jabil its manufacturing operations for all products, including base stations, subscriber units and radios. Jabil will manage the entire supply chain, from the pilot stage to full production, including material procurement, final assembly, testing, control and shipping of systems directly to global customers. Jabil facilities are able to support a worldwide customer base of manufacturing and servicing facilities in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
