Wireless CNP Launches Community
Wireless Broadband in Cambridgeshire, UK

Drakken Ltd, an ISP based in Cambridgeshire, planned to enable the small
community of Reach  to have sensibly priced fast access to the Internet and E-mails

Drakken were looking for a solution that was simple to deploy and maintain as well as readily expandable. Drakken approached Wireless CNP, having been recommended their services, to design and aid in deployment of their required broadband connection. Drakken chose the smartBridges product range on the recommendation of Wireless CNP.

Drakken are located in the village and have a 6Mbps Internet connection. Drakken decided to allocate some of its bandwidth to the Reach community network in order to provide high-speed access to the village.

Drakken decided to use a wireless solution, as this is the only sensible way to achieve their goal of making affordable broadband Internet available to all residents in the village. With only the small amount of houses and therefore a low potential take-up in the village, any other method would have had to have been a minimum of 100% take up and even then this might not have been enough.

Drakken used their office and a local residential premise as distribution point as well as a relay point, extending the coverage into the village. The smartBridges base stations were positioned to deliver broadband connectivity over the entire village, delivering a contended 1Mbps service to their customers.

The ease of deployment and sensitivity of the smartBridges radios impressed Drakken so much that having delivered Broadband to their local community Drakken are now looking to increase their offering to nearby villages and communities.

Drakken allocated 2 Mbps for village use, subject to available bandwidth. Drakken are offering in the package one IP address fixed, and one E-mail address, further IP and E-mails are available on request. Drakken have decided on fixed IP so monitoring of individuals use can be achieved using the free, simple smartBridges management software can be used.

Wireless CNP provides specialist, innovative, leading edge solutions for wireless data and voice applications. As the UK’s first Specialist Wireless distributor we have gained invaluable experience in an expanding market place that is second to none.     Each solution provided by Wireless CNP is unique, devised closely with our partners and implemented to meet our customer’s needs. Wireless CNP is there conception of the solution, through site survey to date of installation. Wireless CNP also offers optional maintenance agreements on all of its solutions.
