5G Wireless to Provide Wi-fi Service 5G Wireless
(OTCBB:FGWC) announced today that it has been awarded the contract to provide
high-speed wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi) for the City of Garden Grove,
California utilizing 5G's proprietary Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b
equipment.
Charles Kalil, Information Systems Manager for the City of
Garden Grove, stated, "We've tried a wireless solution in the past and were
terribly disappointed. We have many city sub-stations that need to be on the
network with city hall and up until 5G came along, there was no economical
solution to bring them on line."
Mr. Kalil further stated, "5G made the
wireless connection, the first one was 1/4 mile away from City Hall and we
realized data transfer rates of over 3 megabits per second. With the 2nd
connection, 2 1/2 miles away from City Hall and without line-of-sight we
realized the same data transfer rates, over 3 megs per second. They delivered
more than what they promised and with these two installations, have completed
phase one. We probably have two or three more phases to go and we will continue
to use the 5G Wireless solution."
"The 2 1/2 mile shot that we provide to
Garden Grove is non line-of-sight and through trees," stated Jerry Dix,
President and CEO of 5G Wireless, "not a simple task but we knew that our gear,
developed to operate within the legal limits of IEEE 802.11b standard, was more
than capable of meeting the challenge.
"The Garden Grove network is now
up and running flawlessly," Dix continued, "and plans for expanding to other
city facilities are in the works. We regularly demonstrate successful shots of
up to 5 miles away from our main access point in Marina del Rey, California and
we were confident that our proprietary technology would have little difficulty
making these connections for Garden Grove."
