Proxim Corporation Appoints Kevin J. Duffy to Head
Newly Created Broadband Services Division

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 22, 2002 - Proxim Corporation (NASDAQ: PROX) , the company created by the merger between Proxim, Inc. and Western Multiplex Corporation, announced today that Kevin J. Duffy has joined its management team as general manager of its newly formed Broadband Services Division. The Broadband Services Division will focus on delivering products for the service provider market -- Internet Service providers (ISPs), wireless ISPs and carriers for last mile access, neighborhood access and consumer LAN distribution.

Prior to joining Proxim, Duffy was vice president of Home Networking at Siemens Information & Communications Mobile, where he was responsible for channel development, strategic partnerships and customer acquisition, as well as for creating and managing global business processes. He also worked closely with Proxim, Inc. in promoting home networking products offered by both companies based on the HomeRF standard.

"Kevin brings depth and experience to our team. The Broadband Services Division will help us get closer to the market and focus on what we believe to be the major strategic promise of our recent merger," said David King, president and COO of Proxim. "We have created this new division in order to fulfill the promise of integrating our fixed-wireless and mobile wireless products in order to provide low-cost, high-speed access to residences and public spaces."

Proxim has a strong offering for service providers who need high-performance backhaul capabilities or last-mile solutions through its Tsunami Point to Multipoint product. In addition, Proxim is working with service providers who want to offer their customers wireless home networking products, such as Proxim's Skyline and Symphony solutions.

"I am excited to join Proxim and to help build the Broadband Services Division," said Kevin Duffy. "Proxim offers service providers the indoor and outdoor wireless solutions they need, and I look forward to focusing on this important market."

Prior to Siemens, Duffy held positions with Northern Telecom and Tracor Aerospace and was a non-commissioned officer serving as Avionics Nav/Com technician in the United States Air Force.

Duffy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
