Wireless
InfoNet to Present "Deploying License-Free Wireless
Internet Access" Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri
Training Seminar Provides Real World Techniques on Building
Broadband Wireless Networks
Chatsworth,
Calif., May 22, 2002 – Wireless InfoNet, Inc., a leading broadband
wireless training and consulting firm, today announced that it will present the
next in its series of 2002 workshops, "Deploying
License-Free Wireless Internet Access in the Real World," on
Tuesday, July 9th at Clayton on the Park in St. Louis, Missouri. The eight-hour
workshop costs $339 and includes breakfast, lunch, a set of notes, and
spreadsheet tools. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants therefore advance
registration is recommended.
The
Wireless InfoNet workshops are the only objective, vendor-independent,
technology-independent real-world workshops available. The 2002 workshops
neither advertise nor sell wireless products. They provide practical design and
deployment techniques that have been proven in real-world wireless ISP (WISP)
use. They address challenges (such as dealing with interference) that
vendor-specific workshops don't even acknowledge. The workshops use a flexible
format to address the both the needs of those new to broadband wireless as well
as those who have already deployed systems. A two-way learning process is used
that encourages attendees to participate by asking questions and providing
feedback. Since May of 2001, this
one-day workshop series has provided insight and training for over 600 people
nationwide.
Increasingly, broadband
wireless Internet access is being deployed by ISPs and service providers
worldwide to provide reliable broadband service in geographical areas that have
been ignored or are underserved by other wired broadband technologies such as
DSL and cable modem service. License-free wireless technologies are attractive
because they are cost-effective and allow the quick deployment of broadband
Internet access. No FCC licensing is required; therefore service providers can
avoid the process of biding on and purchasing licensed frequencies; a process
that can be time consuming and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
This workshop series is designed to meet the needs of Internet Service Provider
(ISP) owners, engineers, and technicians, Competitive
Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs),
Cable Operators, Independent Telephone Companies, Rural Utility Cooperatives,
industry analysts, venture capitalists, students, and others that are
involved in researching, designing, deploying, and providing broadband wireless
Internet service using the license-free frequencies.
Jack Unger, Wireless InfoNet Founder and President, is the facilitator. Mr.
Unger has designed, deployed, and supported hundreds of broadband wireless
sites. He is the author of the new book “Deploying License-Free Wireless Wide
Area Networks,” which will be published by Cisco Press during the second half
of 2002.
