Red-M Showcases World's First 5-Layer Security Solution
for Broadband Wireless LANs and Bluetooth Networks

Red-M Demonstrates Security Capabilities of its Genos
wirelessware Platform at CTIA Wireless 2002

ORLANDO, Fla., March 18, 2002 - Red-M, the leader in intelligent wireless middleware (wirelessware) and wireless networking product solutions, is showcasing the world's first 5-layer security solution for wireless LANs and Bluetooth networks at CTIA Wireless 2002 in Orlando, Florida, 18-20 March.

Red-M is the first company to incorporate this level of security and management across 802.11 wireless LANs and Bluetooth networks, providing the most comprehensive, multi-technology wireless security for enterprises and network operators.

Today's wireless networks demand the highest levels of security to protect commercially sensitive data from hackers and unauthorized network attacks. Most wireless security solutions only address the IP layer (layer-3) and above with functionality such as VPNs and firewalls. Red-M's approach uniquely integrates these functions with device and link layer security for both 802.11 wireless LANs and Bluetooth networks. This design provides network managers with a powerful solution to their security needs that not only prevents unauthorized access to network resources, but also allows maximum control over the widest range of devices accessing the network.

The multi-vendor management capabilities also enables access points from different vendors to be integrated and managed in the wireless network without compromising security. This central management feature prevents users from adding their own unauthorized access points in the wireless network, as well as preventing `denial of service' attacks from rogue users.

The 5-layer security solution from Red-M is part of the company's Genos wirelessware platform that was announced in September 2001. Genos wirelessware solves the inherent management and security challenges of wireless networks. Genos is a scalable platform for creating truly mobile data and voice applications in which the users' interaction and experience can be tailored to location, device and access technology. Genos supports all the latest wireless networking standards including 802.11 wireless LANs and Bluetooth.

Simon Gawne, vice president and co-founder of Red-M, comments: "Two thirds of wireless networks have no security features turned-on because current wireless security implementations are hard to configure and use. One of the aims of our Genos wirelessware strategy is to provide a comprehensive security solution that spans all wireless technologies and is easily to deploy. Our unique 5-layer approach solves the drive-by hacker problems that plague enterprises and network operators, making wireless networking a commercial reality. We are pleased to be showcasing the security capabilities of Genos at one of the most prestigious wireless events in the world."

Red-M is located at booth 5771-J in the Wireless Area Networking/Personal Area Networking Pavilion at CTIA. More information about Genos and security can be found at www.red-m.com/genos/ctia/
