Nomadix Provides Wi-Fi
Hotspot
Access to CeBIT Press and Attendees
WESTLAKE
VILLAGE, Calif. & HANOVER, Germany, March 11, 2002 - Nomadix
announced today that it will provide wireless "hotspot" access at the
largest information technology trade show, CeBIT, from March 13-20.
CeBIT press and
convention attendees with Wi-Fi wireless cards will be able to enjoy secure,
high-speed Internet access at four Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA)-sponsored
hotspots while at the show.
Nomadix will be
provisioning the wireless networks using Wi-Fi compliant access points and its
Universal Subscriber Gateway(TM) (USG) product. Free high-speed Internet access
will be available in the "CeBIT News" room, CeBIT Pressroom (both in
the Conference Center), the Wi-Fi Pavilion in Hall 13, Stand D43 and the
Wireless Exchangeworld pavilion in Hall 3, Stand C57.
"Wi-Fi
technology is the standard for broadband wireless data services and these CeBIT
hotspots represent a state-of-art demonstration of roaming data services that
are available in thousands of locations in every major market worldwide,"
said Greg Hayes, VP of Marketing and Market Development at Nomadix.
"When you
open up your network to roaming, security issues are created; Nomadix has
created a solution that enhances the security of the wireless connection and
enables data roaming that is as easy to use as a mobile phone," continued
Hayes.
The Nomadix
USG(TM) product is a dedicated networking access control gateway that delivers
the company's NSE software that enhances mobility in Wi-Fi networks. Current
wireless local area network products are adequate for closed and non-mobile
network environments where all users are known in advance and where the network
administrator must individually configure and provision users' computers. To
enable open, mobile network access, a new solution is needed to automatically
configure every user for the network, authenticate those users for access
privileges, and monitor their network usage.
Using the
Nomadix NSE software, the network manager can connect and provision every user
without requiring problematic client software, secure the user's session and
enforce user policies, such as bandwidth utilization or server access.
Where to
find Nomadix Products at CeBIT

16, Stand B22 and Hall 7, Stand C06; Vasco Data Security -- Hall 17, Stand G17;
