Andrew Announces Multi-Million Dollar Broadband Wireless Agreement with Siemens Mobile Communications S.p.A.
ORLAND PARK, Ill., July 9, 2002 - Andrew Corporation (NASDAQ:ANDW) announced that it has signed a three-year agreement to supply Siemens Mobile Communications S.p.A. with terrestrial microwave antennas and related accessories for deployment in mobile networks and fixed-access solutions worldwide. The agreement is estimated to be worth approximately US $15 million per year.Andrew will provide Siemens Mobile Communications S.p.A. with ValuLine(R) and terrestrial microwave antennas and accessories for integration into turnkey projects worldwide. Andrew ValuLine low profile shielded antennas are sought after for these networks because they give excellent electrical performance and can be connected directly to the radio unit. Andrew is also developing a custom-built integrated solution for applications.
Siemens provides end-user devices, network technology and solutions that cover the entire spectrum of wireless communications. Infrastructure applications include the complete range of GSM, GPRS and UMTS mobile network technologies from base stations and switching systems to intelligent networks, microwave radio solutions for cellular operators, and high capacity microwave radio solutions for backbone, fixed and mobile systems. A typical Siemens Mobile turnkey contract might include microwave radio systems, optical multiplexers, and network management software and services. Andrew is working directly with the Mobile division in Italy where there is a major design and manufacturing group for microwave radio applications.
