StarBand Awarded 'FinOvation' Award for Product Excellence

StarBand Consumer High-Speed Satellite Internet Service
Recognized as 2001 Top Product by Farm Industry News

MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 9, 2002 - StarBand, America's leading consumer high-speed, two-way satellite Internet provider, has been awarded one of 21 FinOvation Awards for product excellence and interest by readers and editors of Farm Industry News, a product and technology-focused magazine reaching a quarter of a million readers in the agriculture industry.

The annual award recognizes products and services that garner significant interest throughout the year based on reader inquiries.

"We're honored that StarBand's satellite-based high-speed Internet service is receiving national attention and interest from Farm Industry News readers and editors," said StarBand President and Chief Marketing Officer, David Trachtenberg. "This award recognizes that StarBand is delivering on the promise of high-speed Internet connectivity that people are demanding regardless of where they live - Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and throughout America's heartland or virtually everywhere else across the U.S.

StarBand Network: Customers and Service in all 50 States

StarBand delivers its two-way satellite Internet service by installing small antennas on roofs or walls of customer homes or on poles. Professional StarBand installation typically takes approximately four hours. The StarBand Model 360 high-speed modem is connected to a customer's computer.

When a customer accesses StarBand Internet service, the signal travels over inside wiring to the rooftop antenna. The antenna then relays the data signals to a satellite. The satellite sends the signal to the StarBand Network Operations Center where it gathers, aggregates and routes the signals to deliver data from the Internet to the customer.

StarBand currently has customers and service availability in all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii.
