ewd Promotes Scott A. Avery to 
Vice President of Business Development

    PLEASANTON, CA - Monday January 14, 2002 - embedded wireless devices inc (ewd) today announced Scott Avery's promotion to Vice President of Business Development. Previously, Mr. Avery was ewd's Director of Marketing, responsible for the company's product marketing initiatives and assisting with strategic relationships. In his new role, Mr. Avery is responsible for developing and managing ewd's strategic business relationships, working with existing OEMs and expanding and refining the ewd Technology Partners program.

    "This is a key position for us," said Sean T. Marzola, President & CEO of ewd. "Scott Avery's promotion is a natural extension of his role as Marketing Director. His prior experience with strategic relationships and his proven performance and accomplishments at ewd make him the ideal person to direct our business development activities. Scott is initially focusing on the development of partnerships needed to offer our WLAN customers the most complete systems solutions available today," he added.

    Prior to joining ewd, Mr. Avery was Director of Marketing for Atmel Corporation's Serial EEPROM Product line where he held P&L responsibility, set business strategies and pricing and established long-term strategic major customer partnerships.
