EarthLink's Broadband Wireless Initiatives 
Showcased at Largest Broadband Wireless Industry Event

    Anaheim, CA, January 8, 2002 - EarthLink Vice President Tom Andrus, who is responsible for overseeing product management for all new products and services for the nation's third largest Internet Service Provider (ISP), will discuss the company's fixed wireless deployment plans as a keynote speaker at the 2002 Broadband Wireless World Forum, the largest telecommunications trade event to focus on fixed broadband wireless services and technology.

    Andrus joins Dan Hesse, Chairman, President and CEO for Terabeam, a Seattle-based telecommunications technology and services company, at the fourth annual industry event, February 12-14th, 2002 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

    "EarthLink is optimistic about the role fixed wireless will play in our mix of high-speed services," Andrus said. "It is important for the wireless industry to recognize the huge opportunity they have by working with ISPs like EarthLink. Fixed wireless can initially fill in the gaps where cable and DSL access are not available. But we also believe that when the price is right, fixed wireless will be a strong competitor to both cable and DSL."

    In another announcement, Forbes, the largest biweekly business magazine, is participating in the show as the primary media sponsor. Forbes ASAP Magazine Editor Patrick Dillon will kick-off the show and introduce keynote speakers and featured panelists.

    The Broadband Wireless World Forum features more than 110 exhibitors and is sponsored by leading technology suppliers Ensemble Communications, Nokia, Harris Corp. and Netro Corp.
