Comsearch Appoints Managing Director 
to New Asia Pacific Office

    ASHBURN, VA, January 9, 2002 - Comsearch, an Allen Telecom company (NYSE:ALN), today announced the appointment of Alex Chen as Managing Director of its new Asia Pacific office in Singapore. In his new position, Mr. Chen will play a major role in the development and promotion of Comsearch's wireless engineering services and products throughout the Asia Pacific region. Comsearch's Asia Pacific headquarters will be located in Singapore while retaining its sales representation in Sydney, Australia.

    Mr. Chen's experience has included business development as well as international sales and global account management in the Asia Pacific wireless industry. His significant technical competencies include optical networking, mobile networks, wireless networking, broadband access, voice over IP, LAN/WAN and network infrastructure.

    Responsibilities for Mr. Chen will focus on growing and managing new engineering, spectrum management and software business initiatives for Comsearch in the region.

    Previously, Mr. Chen has held business development and sales positions with 3Com Corporation, LAN SYSTEMS Pty. Ltd, Marconi Communications and Quadtel International Ltd. Most recently, Mr. Chen was involved in strategic business development for Macquarie Corporation of Australia.
