Tech-Savvy Indiana Univeristy of Pennysylvania Students 
First to Experience Initial Deployment of Wireless Broadband

The Navini Ripwave(TM) 2.4 GHz system deployment covers the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) campus, all of Indiana Borough, and parts of White Township. This is one of the first commercial deployments of a non-line-of-sight, zero-install wireless broadband network using Navini equipment, and follows a successful technology trial.

    The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce office has used the wireless broadband service for about a month. "This is an economical choice for our offices," said the Chamber's Executive Director Dana Henry, "as we only need one subscription for the network instead of needing a dial-up connection from each workstation." Computer consultant Don Coleman installed the wireless broadband service on a four-computer network at St. Bernard Church. "The reception has been excellent," Coleman said. "Data rates are better than DSL or cable."

    "In sub-optimal conditions - in an area with heavy foliage, using unlicensed spectrum - we have been able to sustain broadband rates at distances up to 3-5 miles," said Sai Subramanian, vice president of product management and strategic marketing for Navini Networks.
