USURF America Completes Broadband Wireless Internet System Customers
Connected to Second Phase of Planned Colorado Springs Network
USURF America, Inc.,
the developer of Quick-Cell, a family of Wi-Fi standard broadband
fixed-wireless high-speed Internet access products, announced today that the
second phase of its planned Colorado Springs wireless Internet has become
fully operational and that customers are on this portion of the network. The
company's wireless Internet system, located at the Sunset Creek Apartments in
central Colorado Springs, was completed in conjunction with SunWest
Communications, one of USURF's channel partners.
The Sunset Creek multiple dwelling unit
(MDU) property contains 310 units
and is located in an area of Colorado Springs where there is minimal
affordable broadband Internet access. The second phase of the network is in
close proximity to USURF's first network phase located at the nearby Green
Valley Apartments, which was completed with SunWest recently. The first
customers on this phase of the network have subscribed to USURF's
256k-service. Clients include college students and technical professionals
living in the complex.
"Property management has indicated to us that more than 40-percent of
tenants have expressed interest in leasing based on the availability of our
high speed services," said Ken Upcraft, USURF's vice president for sales and
marketing. In addition, the complex's leasing office is connected to USURF's
wireless network, and a "community computer" is available to all tenants for
their Internet needs. The Sunset Creek phase is the second of several
similarly planned MDU-based systems in the area, others of which are nearing
completion.
"The completion of the second phase of our planned Colorado Springs
network demonstrates that our channel partner strategy is finding success,"
said Upcraft. "As with the completion of the first phase of our Colorado
Springs network, our channel partner in the Sunset Creek project is SunWest
Communications and, together with SunWest, we're readying other MDU properties
for connection to our network. We continue to be pleased with the strong
customer response to our wireless Internet service; they continue to note our
service's reliability and speed," he concluded.
