Solectek
Releases Extended-Range Campus High-power
802.11(b) radio solution for campus area network and wireless community networks Solectek
Corporation, a leader in fixed wireless broadband networking, is entering
the 802.11(b) wireless LAN market with an extended range system solution. The
AU-500 series product line is aimed at the user base that desires to have a
large coverage area around a single access point. Dr. Eric Lee, CEO of Solectek
explains why the company chose to enter the already crowded 802.11(b) market,
"The consumer sector is now all about prices without sacrificing the high-end
features required in the most demanding corporate applications. Obviously, we
need to offer something unique that will both be different and useful to the
user base. I believe extending the coverage area is something that has
been overlooked and we chose to address that void." The
AU-500 series will offer indoor ranges up to 1,200 feet (open space), more than
three times more than most 802.11b products in the market. Further ranges are
possible with external antennas. The product line includes an access point,
client cards, and client bridges for flexible indoor-outdoor configurations. The
AU-500 series is complimented by the lower-cost AP200 series for short-range
applications. The
AU-500 series focuses on large cell requirements and is particularly well suited
to address the need for outdoor extensions of your wireless networks.
Applications include campus networking for schools, colleges, and corporate
campuses where many buildings are located in close proximity. The clients can
maintain seamless connectivity in and between any of the buildings on campus.
Such applications could extend to outdoor coverage needs such as industrial
sites, outdoor events, and point-of-sales transactions.
AU-500 is also designed to serve the burgeoning wireless community networks
where Internet access is provided to clients in neighborhoods from a local point
of distribution. Says Dr. Lee, Customers have talked to us about low-cost,
simple, high-power radio solutions for some time. We feel that combining the
mature 802.11(b) and our proprietary radio technology is what they need. We are
bringing a decade of enterprise-level fixed wireless experience right down to
the communities."
Solectek also offers the most flexible, feature-rich solutions for enterprises
and larger ISP's that require longer distance, bandwidth control, heavy data
traffic, Voice over IP, and enhanced throughput Dr. Lee adds, "We now have
solutions for every budget and feature need. Customers can view Solectek as a
one-stop shop for all things broadband wireless."
