Resonext Two-Chip CMOS Dual Band 802.11a/b/g WLAN SAN JOSE,
Calif., Dec. 5, 2002 - Resonext(TM)
Communications, Inc., a leading provider of highly integrated two-chip
CMOS solutions for Wireless LAN (WLAN) platforms, announced today that
the Resonext RN5220, the world's first two-chip CMOS dual band chipset
for 802.11a/b/g applications, has been named the "RF Design Magazine
Editors' Choice for Product of the Month" in November.
"We are honored that the editors of RF Design chose the Resonext
RN5220 dual band chipset as product of the month," said Resonext
Marketing VP Robert Fan. "By incorporating the industry's first
single-chip dual band 1.8V CMOS radio based on zero-IF architecture,
our dual band chipset lowers bill of materials costs and reduces power
consumption -- both very important features for our customers." Resonext first demonstrated its new RN5220 dual band chipset last
month at Comdex Fall 2002 and continues to conduct private
demonstrations for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Original
Design Manufacturers (ODM). The RN5220 dual band chipset will sample
this quarter to alpha customers, with volume production scheduled for
the first half of 2003. Mr. Fan, a recognized authority on dual band technology in today's
wireless LAN environment, will discuss dual band chipset performance
and design advantages during a panel on technology trends at the
802.11 Planet Fall 2002 Conference & Expo today in Santa Clara, Calif. The Resonext RN5220 dual band chipset is based on the company's
flagship product, the RN5200 802.11a chipset, which was also named the
"RF Design Magazine Editors' Choice for Product of the Month" in
January, 2002. The RN5220 802.11a/b/g chipset consists of a
single-chip dual band CMOS radio and a multi-protocol baseband/MAC
chip, both manufactured on the 0.18-micron, 1.8-volt CMOS process from
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). The Resonext RN5220 dual band chipset is compliant with IEEE
802.11a/b standards and is designed to fully support the emerging
802.11g specifications with a data transfer rate of up to 54Mbps. The
chipset features Resonext's proprietary AccuChannel(TM) equalization
technology, which increases the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) by up to
4dB and provides up to a 32 percent greater range for all data rates
when compared to standard OFDM modems. A flexible MAC architecture
supports customer differentiation and evolving IEEE drafts for
Security (802.11i and Wi-Fi Protected Access), Quality of Service
(802.11e), Dynamic Frequency Selection and Transmit Power Control
(802.11h). About Resonext Communications, Inc. # # #
