ICSA Labs Announces Its
First Broadband New Certification
Program Reduces Security Risks for WLAN End Users ICSA Labs, an
independent division of TruSecure Corporation, today announced the ICSA
Labs' Wireless LAN (WLAN) Product Security Certification Testing program.
The ICSA Labs program will be the first program to offer the comprehensive,
independent testing determining whether wireless LAN products meet the most
stringent security requirements targeted by the IEEE 802.11i Working Group. "Mobile
connectivity is being driven by the acceptance of wireless devices and the need
for ubiquitous access to network resources from both internal and external to
the enterprise," said Allan Carey, program manager, Information Security
Services, IDC. "ICSA Labs' role in determining and testing against the
current standards will help vendors focus on interoperability and necessary
standards as part of their overall security strategies to help mitigate existing
security concerns with wireless." Certified products
will be tested against the most rigorous IEEE, IETF and other widely accepted
industry standards. Testing criteria will be vetted in public presentations, in
briefings to vendors and user community stakeholder groups and will be available
on the ICSA Labs Web site. Certified ICSA Labs WLAN products will be able to
deliver security services that include: station and access point authentication
and access control, data and management frame integrity, data origin
authentication, data payload confidentiality, and replay detection. Products
also will be subjected to ICSA Labs' cryptography testing, providing further
confidence that the certified product can consistently deliver the required
security services. More
information on ICSA Labs Certification testing programs can be found on the ICSA
Labs Web site at: http://www.icsalabs.com.
ICSA Labs creates globally accepted security product standards and testing
procedures. As the industry leader, ICSA Labs sets the standard by performing
extensive research as well as tracking and measuring risks. About
