Airspan Completes First WipLL Sale in the 
Americas to ILLUMINAT of Trinidad and Tobago

    Airspan Networks, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of fixed broadband wireless DSL networks, announced today that ILLUMINAT of Trinidad and Tobago will be the first customer in the Americas region to deploy Airspan's WipLL always-on, high-speed data access system. Airspan acquired the WipLL product line from Marconi in October 2002. ILLUMINAT will use the system to serve its high-end business customers from Port-of-Spain to San Pedro.

    IllUMINAT, a leading information technology and communications service provider operating in the Caribbean, plans to have Airspan's WipLL equipment fully deployed in its network by mid-December.

    ILLUMINAT first deployed Airspan's AS4000 wireless DSL system in 2001, and the company now has plans to expand this network's coverage in order to provide high-speed Internet service to residential customers. WipLL is being added to utilize additional blocks of spectrum that ILLUMINAT has available.

    "ILLUMINAT's business and government clients required a higher quality data connectivity," said Ian Henderson, ILLUMINAT's vice president of communications. "To deliver Internet access and VPNs to all sites, we needed to find a high bandwidth solution which would also provide an excellent Quality of Service. Airspan responded in record time by converting our order to a working system in Trinidad in less than seven weeks. We picked the right system, and we're already expanding the initial deployment."

    Established in 1958, ILLUMINAT's Communications Business Unit has grown by acquisition to deliver telephony, 2-way radio, point-to-point and multipoint data services for business subscribers in the Caribbean. The company's Trinidad facilities serve financial services entities, private enterprises and government offices.
