Market for Promising Technology Sector Poised for
Growth
WASHINGTON, April 18, 2002 - The Strategis
Group will sponsor a webcast on April 25, 2002, to present the
findings of an upcoming report, "The Changing Reality of Wireless
Backhaul." The firm's new Director of Research, Peter Jarich, will
present early findings from a forthcoming report, offering valuable
perspective on how emerging market forces are projected to create new
demand for wireless backhaul solutions.
The arrival of 2.5G and 3G services are
driving several changes in the mobile wireless network. For example, the
dramatic rise that is projected for data traffic will require higher
capacity backhaul connections and a greater number of cells in order to
provide high-speed services. More cells and higher-speed services will
both put constraints on the use of wireline backhaul, making wireless
backhaul increasingly attractive as an alternative.
"While point-to-point wireless links have
been the traditional means of wireless backhaul for mobile networks,
point-to-multipoint and free-space- optics vendors are now positioning
themselves to capture a share of the backhaul market. This is not
surprising, as the bleak wireless CLEC market has forced these vendors
(point-to-multipoint and free-space-optics vendors) to seek new revenue
opportunities. However, 2.5/3G network realities also make these
technologies more suitable than before," commented Jarich.
The webcast will be held on Thursday, April
25, 2002, at 2 PM EDT (11 AM PDT). To participate in the event, register a
few minutes prior to the webcast online at http://www.videonewswire.com/event.asp?id=4181
