BWE Editorial Guidelines

Broadband Wireless Exchange magazine welcomes articles from vendors and service providers that provide our readers with a good source of information and knowledge about building and managing broadband wireless data networks such as wireless Internet service providers and/or Wi-Fi Hotspot operators.  Our Editorial Guidelines are outlined below:

Who:  Our readership includes journalists, industry analysts, financial analysts, executives, network planning engineers, Internet engineers, radio frequency engineers, industry association members, hardware vendors, software vendors, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fixed wireless service providers, and other who are interested in discovering the benefits of broadband wireless as a better, faster and more flexible broadband access solution than wired connections such as DSL or cable modems.

What: Our mission is to educate others about the broadband wireless industry. We want to show interested parties how broadband wireless systems work, the attractive economics of building wireless systems and the potential benefits residential and business customers will receive through rapid deployment of this technology.  Accordingly, we would like to receive Wireless ISP profiles that show the migration path from dialup to high-speed wireless;  "how-to" articles that explain the step-by-step process of building a radio frequency/IP point of presence;  technology trial documentaries that explain how vendors and service providers worked together to overcome the trials and tribulations of deploying new technology; in-depth engineering descriptions of new technology and buying guidelines that service providers should utilize when buying equipment; and last, but not least, unique customer testimonials that show how broadband wireless can boldly go where no wired solution has gone before.

Where: Please send your article and graphics to (email is preferred):

When:  Deadline is on the 15th of each month prior to publication. Example: articles turned in and approved by May 15th will show up in the June issue.
How to submit story ideas:

    Editorial Guidelines:

  1. Review our editorial calendar.  The more relevant your story is to our monthly theme the more likely your article will be published when you expect it.

  2. Submit an abstract of the article you want to write several months ahead of time.  An abstract is a 5-6 sentence paragraph that gives a short overview of the subject matter and several bullet points for the topics you would like to cover in the article.  This will allow the editor to review and approve/suggest changes to your proposed article before you spend a lot of time writing the article.

  3. Articles should be between 1,000 and 2,500 words in length and include photos, graphics or other art work that helps the reader get a better understanding of complex subject matters.  The copy should be forwarded in text, rich text or html format.   Graphics should be 75-300 dpi and in .gif, .tif or .jpeg format.  Remember, this is an online publication and the graphics need to download as quickly as possible.  Large graphics will not be used.  Both text and graphics should be sent via email to: rhoskins@bbwexchange.com. If it is absolutely necessary, you can FedEx on a CD-ROM to the mailing address above.

  4. Resist the urge to promote your product or service.  The purpose of the article is to educate the reader, not overwhelm them with superlatives and marketing hype.  Remember, we reserve the right to edit or refuse articles that don't meet the guidelines.  We will edit all submissions for clarity and length.

  5. Once your article is accepted, you may not under any circumstance publish the article within another media outlet without written permission from the Broadband Wireless Exchange.

  6. Make sure the article is about broadband wireless data. Mobile wireless data such as Wi-Fi is ok, but BWE does not cover 3G, wireless handsets or short messaging technology.
